Our newly installed Digital Stereo Microscope significantly enhances our ability to carry out high-quality material inspections. High resolution imaging over a wider area allows us to examine larger components in detail while maintaining clarity across a greater field of view. The improved depth of field provides a near-3D perspective, ensuring clear views of the inspection surfaces and the surrounding areas.
Equipped with an integrated digital camera and measurement software, the system enables precise, repeatable dimensional analysis and high-resolution imaging. This allows us to capture images of surfaces and fracture faces in a non-destructive manner, preserving critical evidence for further investigation.

The addition of the Optical Emission Spectrometer (OES) provides the facility to offer customers fast, accurate and fully reliable in-house material composition analysis. This system allows us to determine the exact chemical makeup of ferrous alloys with precision, including trace elements at very low detection limits. Whether verifying against a specification, ensuring compliance, or detecting irregularities, we can deliver clear and dependable results.
One of the most powerful features of the OES system is its integrated grade database, which contains over 10 million records covering more than 320,000 materials and specifications from around the world. This allows us to instantly identify and validate grades without the need for external testing, providing customers with rapid confirmation that their materials meet the required standards and specifications. For our clients, this capability provides greater confidence in the accuracy of results and the reliability of the conclusions drawn.

Our new Surface Roughness Tester gives us the capability to provide precise, standards-compliant assessments of surface finish. Its portable design means we can now conduct tests and measurements off-site, bringing the same level of reliability and accuracy directly to our customers’ facilities when required.
Fully compliant with ISO 4287, the system measures key surface roughness parameters including average roughness (Ra), ten-point average roughness (Rz) and root mean square roughness (Rq), providing a clear and quantitative understanding of surface quality. This allows us to not only verify machining, polishing and treatment processes, but also to detect wear patterns that can reveal early signs of failure.
For our clients, this capability ensures surface finishes are validated against international standards, potential problems are identified, and components are qualified with greater confidence.

By continually investing in modern, advanced equipment, we’re able to evolve in line with our customers’ requirements, offering sharper insights and more reliable results in failure analysis, quality assurance and many other applications.
We’re excited to keep sharing news on the tools, techniques and projects that are helping us deliver even more value to our clients. As always, if you’d like to discuss a project, book a chat, or simply find out more about how we can support you, we’d love to hear from you.
